There are two types of log homes that are divided into handcrafted log home and milled log home. Handcrafted log home is typically made of logs that have been peeled but are otherwise essentially unchanged from their original natural appearance when they were trees. This type of wood house have been built for centuries in Europe then brought to North America by the colonist in the early 1700’s. The other type is milled log home, which first appeared in the 1920 that were precut, and shape. A milled or machine-profiled log home is one constructed of logs that have run through a manufacturing process which convert them into timbers that are consistent in size and appearance.

Before it built into a gorgeous log home, logwood have trough several treatments. Traditionally logs that are cut from the forest, brought to a mill or to a log home construction yard, bark removed, and then used to build the handcrafted log homes, or sent through profiling machines are usually referred to as “green” logs if they have not been air-dried or kiln-dried. “Green” refers to moisture content that the actual moisture content of “green” logs varies considerably with species of tree such cedar, fir, spruce, pine, etc, season in which it was cut down, and whether sapwood or heartwood is being measured. Green logs may have moisture content between about 20% and 90%. Alternatively, sit logwood in the open air to dry naturally but it would take a long time to dry a logwood. Otherwise, mills that have a kiln on-site have the option of artificially accelerating the drying process. Green timber is placed inside a large oven where heat removes moisture from the logs.

Those treatments are required for strength and durability therefore is a long lasting wood house. A high degree of craftsmanship are also required when built this kind of wood house. Thus, log home appears in wide of variety that has rustic looks and brings warmth ambiance to the environment.

It is almost certain that wooden house has specific aesthetic especially its rustic look. It brings warmth ambiance and natural look surrounding the environment. Wooden house is built in many several types of home i.e. log home and timber frame home. At times some people want to built their wooden house but wish its appearance is not to much wood. Timber frame home gave them a similar feel of rustic elegance but with a more varied, less monochromatic, palette on the inside as well as complete freedom on exterior finish. Different from log home, this looks heavier and less varied than timber frame home.

Timber frame house maintenance is easier than a traditionally constructed home. Log home is required particular maintenance, specifically, the exterior must be cleaned and treated on a frequent basis (usually every 2-3 years to maintain the manufacturer’s warranty) and the homeowner must cope with an unsettling degree of settling (as much as 6 inches a story) as the horizontal logs shrink over time. Otherwise, timber frame home as longevity building.

Beautiful rustic elegance, little maintenance, the opportunity to leave a tangible legacy for your children and grandchildren, and sustainability are just a few of the differences between the building systems that account for the growing popularity of timber frame homes.

Joglo is the famous traditional building in Java especially in Central Java. Joglo refers to a traditional wooden house, which has building standard. Commonly joglo is made of high quality of wood since this kind of wood is rather expensive thus, why only wealthy people whose can build it. At times part of it like the front door or called gebyog are made in luxurious handcraft. Therefore, a grand Javanese wooden house is highly priced.

Joglo has specific home plan, which each part of it has particular purport. The home plan of joglo may divide into several parts such as senthong and omah jero as primary territory, jogan and gandhok as secondary territory then pendapa as public territory. Each territory has its own purpose and rules. Primary territory means only the owner has permanently and completes control, senthong that means a room with partition use as private room for the dwellers then omah jero that has similar function with senthong. Next is secondary territory, which is periodically controlled and wide coverage area, this room is not exclusively being used by the dwellers or certain person. Jogan and gandhok is including is this area that is set as semi private room, gandhok is usually set as dining room or living room. jogan is used to receive informal guest or relatives, this part different from pendapa that is a public territory to receive formal guest, in this territory everyone is allowed as long as that person comply with with certain condition in this area.

This type of wooden house requires spacious area that currently difficult to find. Thus, its function has change as a meeting room since today people do not build their house in joglo style. there is also use as restaurant or hotel which will give unique experience to people when the visit the Javanese wooden house.

There are many types of wooden house that is built. Although some people will not keep a close watch on it, so they do not know the differences. These are several types of wooden house, which will give little information.

A log home is built of wood in large pieces stacked horizontally to form walls. Most people would like the pieces of wood to be large and round but they can be sized and shaped in many different ways to simplify the build process and eliminate some of the difficulties inherent in this building system (settling (vertical movement) of the walls as they dry, lack of insulating capability, etc.).

A post and beam home uses wood also in large pieces that positioned upright, which called posts to support horizontal pieces, which called beams. The posts and beams can be left organically shaped (round) as in a post and beam log home or squared off as in a timber frame home. Moreover, the pieces may be attached to each other in many different ways including metal brackets, plates, bolts, screws, or mortise and tenon joinery.

A timber frame home is a specific kind of post and beam home that uses mortise and tenon joinery and wooden pegs to hold the squared-off timbers together. A wooden house with timber frame is a home constructed of a timber frame surrounded by structural insulated panels (SIPs).

People usually build a common house brick that is strong and solid thus they prefer to build their house with brick. In early period commonly, people used wood as a building material. Wood is easy to found in the environs and easy to built therefore people are used to built their house in wood material. They also used their local wisdom either when built a house and protected the nature resource.

Wooden house looks warm and sophisticated on its appearance. The natural beauty of it will fascinate anyone whose see it. Wooden house will keep the house warm in the winter yet dry and cool in the summer. However, its maintenance is rather difficult than common brick house. The wood should resist to termite with particular care and maintenance.

The advantages of wooden house are more than its appearance. Wooden house is the most economical and environmental-friendly, beside that it is future energy-efficient building. Wood characteristics are i.e. highly effective insulator, CO2 neutral and sustainable, otherwise wood also creating excellent living conditions. As mentioned before wood ability is to reduce energy use. Even it is built in lower wall thicknesses; wood construction has a higher heat insulation value than conventional construction. Considering the growing importance of energy-efficient building methods, timber construction will play an increasingly important role in the future. Structural wood needs no chemical treatment to achieve a long life, if it is built in good design and correct detailing. Wood is resistant to heat, frost, corrosion and pollution; the only factor that needs to be controlled is moisture.
